Notes Before Treatment

Pre-Treatment

Before Botox, Dysport, Dermal Fillers:

  • Avoid aspirin (e.g., Excedrin), vitamin E, St. John’s Wort, fish oil, and other dietary supplements (e.g., ginkgo, evening primrose oil, garlic, feverfew, ginseng) 7–8 days before your appointment.
  • Avoid Motrin, ibuprofen, and alcohol 2 days before your appointment.

Before Peel Treatments, Dermaplaning, Microneedling:

  • Avoid retinol and active ingredient toners/serums for 1 week prior.
  • Arrive with a clean, washed face if possible.

Before PRP and PRP Derma Gel Treatments:

Avoid Blood Thinners:

  • Stop blood thinners (including alcohol) at least 1 week before.
  • Avoid alcohol 24 hours before.

Avoid NSAIDs:

  • Stop using non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) like:
    • Aspirin
    • Advil
    • Aleve
    • Nuprin
    • Ibuprofen
  • Tylenol is OK to use.

Avoid Supplements:

  • Stop herbal supplements like:
    • Fish oil
    • Ginkgo
    • Ginseng
    • St. John’s Wort
    • Garlic pills
  • Avoid supplements like:
    • Vitamin A
    • Vitamin C
    • Vitamin B-6
    • Vitamin E
    • Folic acid
  • Multivitamins are OK to continue.

Avoid Skin Care Products:

  • Avoid retinol-based products and other strong topicals (as advised).
  • Avoid waxing, bleaching, tweezing, or hair removal creams on the treatment area.

Additional Prep:

  • Start Arnica 2 days before treatment to help reduce bruising.
  • Eat iron- and B12-rich foods leading up to and on the day of the procedure.
  • Have a healthy breakfast and stay hydrated.

Aftercare: PRP / Dermal Fillers:

General Care:

  • Stay hydrated
  • Tylenol may be used for discomfort
  • Claritin or Zyrtec can help with allergy symptoms (itchy skin, hives, swelling)
  • Elevate your head for the first 24 hours to minimize inflammation

Avoid After Fillers:

  • Don’t sleep on your face – Pressure can worsen swelling and bruising.
  • Don’t apply makeup – Wait at least 24 hours to prevent complications.
  • Don’t exercise – Avoid physical activity for 24 hours to reduce swelling and bruising.
  • Avoid heat – Stay away from saunas, hot tubs, or hot environments after treatment.

Normal Reactions:

  • Small white bumps or “pearls” under the eyes after PRP are normal and typically resolve on their own.
